January 2010

The band would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was at the Cross keys on New Years Eve for a great rocking evening bring on 2010

                                                                                                                                                                                   Cellar bar - Batley 18th April 2009

This venue is the smallest played by the band but has the one of the best crowds on the scene. Rocking from the onset the audience danced and sang the night away so much so the speakers took a nose dive. Many guests arrived wearing their newly purchased T-Shirts. The songs were performed as always to high standard, but the intorduction of new material a 'song named Cry for Freedom' had the audience toe tapping and dancing.

East Leeds Lions Bikers Rally 11th April 2009

It's was a late night back to Windy Corner after an fantastic day at Arthington for day two of the East Leeds Lions Easter Rally. It was one of those days to remember for eternity. I just managed to catch the start of Twist of Fate's opening set and I'm really pleased I did catch them as they played a great set of classic rock standards, very well performed by the lads to a number of rock fans and rallyists in the marquee. Rik's guitar tone was excellent and with a foundation-like solid rhythm section and really pleasing vocals, I truly thought the band rocked!

Another exceptional evening took place at the keys with Twist of Fate making a very rare Friday apperarence. As what has come to be expected the band delivered another 2 blinding sets of the highest quality, thrilling the movers and shakers to sing and rock the night away into the wee small hours. Feeding a couple of new numbers into the set the band have mixed the music around a bit to show their wide and varied talents. Backed by a superb sound and light extravaganza the Friday night crowd were left hollering for more and there muso weekend kicked off to a great start.

Few would think that the New Years Eve gig by Twist of Fate would ever be topped, but this Saturday evening went beyond that & took Twist of Fate up to another level in the popularity stakes. The band played two high energy sets incorporating a few new numbers including a superb version of a MarvinGaye classic which was exceptionally worked and well appreciated by the locals. By the second set the Keys was bursting to the seams and got a bit hot and steamy with the band going through the repotoire non stop finishing off with aa flurry of encores which if allowed would have gone on to the early hours. Top valentines evening & as Howard always says to the lads @ the end of each gig TOP THAT NEXT TIME.

Sat 8th Feb 2009

Black Labrador Dewsbury -  A first time pub for the band but appreciation was shown from the onset with members of the audience singing and dancing in the little floor space that was left. Fantastic changes to the set list including two new songs(Crazy Horses by the Osmonds and Marvin Gaye's Heard it through the grapevine) not fitting with the bands usual set list but both were played in a way  only Twist of Fate could do and had the crowd dancing on the seats and shouting for more. As the evening progressed so did the atmosphere seeing members of the band balancing on narrow speakers and the audience headbanging where they stood here's to the next one guys. LETS ROCK!!

Sat 17th January 2009

Netherton wmc  - saw the unveiling of the new Twist of Fate, and what a night to remember. The new set opened with Whitesnake' s Fool for your Loving and the audience went wild. Every inch of the tight stage was put to good use and the sound crystal clear, even a mishap with the back lights did not hamper the energy that was overflowing. The second set came into its own right with the audience participation, dancing and communal sing alongs with some old classics and new material including the mind blowing bass solo performed in his own uncomparable style by Lincoln. A great night, a great venue, and a top rocking audience to boot the extended encore after encore said it all even if the licencing laws didnt allow it.

THE OLD GIT MAV 26/10/2008

A big thankyou to Lynn & Howard for hosting a great pre birthday bash for me @ the Cross Keys last night & all the movers & shakers who joined in the celebration, But more so to Twist of Fate for a fantastic night (what a great bunch of guys ) for inviting me on stage & upstaging Rik with my on very guitar solo (AIR)infront of a packed audience to say this was the second sat running for the band @ the keys there was no let up with the size of the crowd who party’d well into the night.Great night to remember cheers to everyone & a bit thanks to Howard & Lynn for seeing myself & wifey (Bev) home safely.

THE OLD GIT MAV 19/10/2008 Twist of Fate @ the Cross Keys this Saturday evening was a superb gig in all aspects, great sound, great stage pressance, & above all a great vibrant crowd relishing in whats good about a live venue, the band & above all, the music. Its hard to find a fault with this band @ the moment everything has just slotted into place in everyway the only problem with the punters is they dont play all night long (now there’s a title for a song if ever ive heard one ).Great turn out this evening @ the Keys lots of new face’s with most of the guys regular followers otherwise engaged which was refreshing to see lets hope they return in there droves the next time.

TWIST OF FATE16th October Thursday night @ Brooklands Batley new venue for myself & wifey ,Twist of Fate were the featured band & the guys turned in two excellent sets to what was unfortunatley a poor attendence for the venue. The Brooklands has great potential as a live venue but think it would bennifit with a lot more advertising .Massive stage area acoustics very tricky to sort as Roger informed me (old warehouse building i.e. metal/stonework) great unpack & pack venue all flat shame it was like a butchers fridge need yer thermals mid winter ill guess other than that good night. This friday @ the Cross Keys RESURGENCE happy belated birthday Helen see you to-nite been mustering the troops, Sat the boys are back Twist of Fate -enough said! be early!

Great Festival at The Keys

Reports coming in from the Cross Keys charity festival on Saturday night indicate that the pub had a great turnout and the bands excelled. Well done to the organisers, sound engineers and of course the band and fans who did the business !!!Here's Jay of the JD Band's review of the day: First up were young lads "A Day For Heroes". They delivered a short but energetic blast of covers and originals. They were tight and versatile as Andy had to jump on the bass for this gig. They should have a good future and there following will increase over time. Crowd wise I would say there was about 40/50 in at that time. Not bad for 3pm. Next up was Hard Shoulder.I have spoken to Joe before but never seen the band and I was impressed. They delivered a good mix of old and new rock and I must say the singer has a particularly good rangey voice. I will definitely see these guys again. Crowd was up to about 60/70. We then had One Fat Spider and this is the best I have seen them with the singer being particularly funny with his wit, even if he had been given a quiet word to mind the language. The pulled of a good mixed set of mainly modern stuff and a great version or dead or alives "you spin me round" Crowd was up to about 100. Bad Penny then took to the stage delivering their usual old classic rock numbers. Without taking anything away from the the other guys, Snoopy really is an outstanding guitarist and his solos will rival anybodys. The highlight of the set and for me the highlight of the night was their version of Comfortably Numb. This really sent a shiver down your spine and made the hairs stand up! Crowd wise there must have been about 120 inside and 30 outside. A mix up with holidays meant that Below Zero and not Rooster were next on the bill. Same singer and some of the same set though. This guy can really sing too hitting some very high notes that I can only dream about hitting. A great tight band with an awesome lead guitarist making his Jem talk! From Led Zeppelins rock and roll to Robbie Williams, Angels it was certainly diverse but it worked great. Crowd must be nearing 150 indoors and 40 outside. Next up were local favourites the Erics. I know this particular charity is close to Sam and he made an extra appeal for funds after explaining a bit about the hospice, who look after his grandaughter. As usual the Eric Morecambe glasses were donned and they belted through their usual high energy, fast paced set finishing with their best track "Wont Get Fooled Again". It was a surpise that little sexy Dave made it on to the stage as he was bol#'cksd by 6pm.I don't know what the capacity indoors as the keys is but if it hold 200 at a max, then there were 200 with about 50 more spilling out onto the decking front and back of the pub. Again the mammoth crowd were treated to another local favourite band to finish of the evening Twist of Fate .A big thanks to Craig for providing his drums for the use of the other bands. It certainly helped speed up the change overs. To my shame I only stopped for 3 songs of this awesome band as the day caught up with me and I really needed to go home. What I saw though was enough to know they were as good as the last time I recently saw them at the keys and as I have said before ,Roger has the greatest voice of them all. I am sure they played long and hard into the early hours with their fantastic rock repertoire. All in all a great successful day without any hiccups. Hope the money raised is substantial and a big thanks to everybody who helped throughout the day, whether it be moving backline to and from the stage, to selling raffle tickets and taking the buckets round, a job well done. -Thanks Jay a good review of a good day.

19th March Cellar bar - Batley

Another cracking night celebrating Steve and Woz's birthdays playing to a packed audience the boys aired there new track Purple haze. The cellar bar was thumping in what proved to be the loudest sing along yet.

18th March  Station -  Ravensthorpe

First of all a big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed towards the massive £700 raised for cancer research UK. The night was buzzing from beginning to end Bad Penny had a set list which included fantastic tracks such as comfortably numb and REM The one I love. Twist followed with with a blistering set which included special guest Lou dancing along to I believe in a thing called love.A good night was had by all.

1st march Cross Keys

Sat night at the cross keys saw one of the north West of the casvagas strip ! unsung hero`s TWIST OF FATE appearing no matter were these guys play they always pull in the punters & give it 101%. The band comprises of Rogers lead vocal what a front Man they have in him,Rick on lead who can hold is own with the rest while juggling umpteen bottles of Newcastle Brown ale in between numbers Scott the perfect man on Bass & Craig the driving force behind the guys on drums. A near to capacity crowd at the keys saw the band bang out Such classics from AC/DC, MOTLEY CREW, T.REX To Crowd pleasers RAINBOW,BLACK SABBATH & QUEEN and a great LED ZEPPELIN melody. The band has become great favourites here at the keys & were I think were the first band Howard & Lynne had appearing there When the y first came to the keys, after new years eve I Thought it would be hard for TWIST OF FATE to follow But as usual theyve come up trumps, great night Superb gig had em rocking in the keys again.

Sat 6th Oct  Station  Ravensthorpe

First of all we would all like to say congratulations to Craig and Keeley on their engagement although Craig nearly missed it due to his little mishap with the iron the week before. He does assure us his proposal had nothing to do with the DVD!!!! Once again it was fantastic rocking night although Lou still refuses to sing her favourite little ditty!!  The crowd enjoyed new numbers which included Long Live Rock and Roll and Heaven and Hell. Paul the landlord rocked to many tracks and showed his appreciation by jumping around on the bar closely followed by the band, the remaining audience were forced to mount the the long saddle and shake their stuff. Jason however unable to climb chose to head bang the night away to classics such as whole lotta Rosie and highway to hell. Here's to the next one guys.
